Our Story

The Edwards story began in 2007 while founder Kyle Davis was attending Towson University, pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management.

What started as a way to help fund tuition, books, and everyday living expenses quickly evolved into something much larger. Between class schedules, evenings, weekends, and summer breaks, Kyle began maintaining a small number of residential properties throughout the Catonsville and Ellicott City communities.

Armed with little more than a mower, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a borrowed trailer, he steadily built a loyal client base through referrals and word-of-mouth recommendations.

While the business was small, the principles established during those early years, hard work, reliability, communication, and pride in a job well done, continue to guide the company today.

As demand continued to grow, the company was formally established as Edwards Lawn & Home Services, LLC.

What began as a college side business was now an officially registered company with a vision for long-term growth and service to the community.

Milestone: Formal establishment of the company.

While completing his education at Towson University, Kyle continued operating the business on a part-time basis.

These formative years were spent balancing classes, studying, and growing the company one client at a time throughout Catonsville, Ellicott City, and the surrounding communities. Every new customer, piece of equipment, and completed project helped build the foundation for what Edwards would eventually become.

As the business continued to gain momentum, there was one unexpected challenge: spring semester. Coincidentally, the busiest time of year for the landscape industry often arrived at the exact same time as final exams and graduation planning. More than once, the demands of serving clients during the spring rush competed for attention with coursework and classroom responsibilities.

What was originally expected to be a 2008 graduation timeline gradually stretched a few more years than planned as the business continued to grow. In hindsight, those extra semesters became an education of their own, teaching lessons in business, customer service, operations, entrepreneurship, and perseverance that couldn’t be found in a textbook.

Kyle ultimately graduated from Towson University in 2011 with a degree in Business Administration, concentrating in Management.

Through a relentless focus on customer service, professionalism, and quality workmanship, the company developed a reputation for reliability that fueled continued growth through referrals and repeat business.

Focus: Building relationships, earning trust, and creating a strong foundation for future growth.

In 2012, following several years of steady growth, Kyle made the decision to pursue the business full-time.

This marked a major turning point in the company’s history and allowed for greater investment in equipment, personnel, systems, and client experience.

What had started as a college side hustle was now evolving into a full-service landscape company focused on long-term growth and serving clients throughout Central Maryland.

Milestone: Full-time operations begin.

Over the next decade, Edwards Lawn and Home Services experienced steady growth throughout Central Maryland.

The company expanded beyond lawn care to offer a broader range of services, including landscape maintenance, landscape enhancements, drainage solutions, outdoor living spaces, landscape lighting, commercial property services, and snow & ice management.

As the company grew, so did its team, capabilities, equipment fleet, and reputation within the community. What began as a one-person operation steadily evolved into a professional organization serving both residential and commercial clients throughout the region.

As the company continued to expand its services and capabilities, a new brand identity was introduced.

While continuing to operate under Edwards Lawn and Home Services, LLC, the company adopted the DBA:

Edwards Lawn & Landscaping

The updated brand better reflected the company’s evolution from a lawn care provider into a full-service landscape and property maintenance company.

Milestone: Launch of the Edwards Lawn & Landscaping brand.

Today, Edwards Lawn & Landscaping proudly serves residential and commercial clients throughout much of Central Maryland with a dedicated team focused on professionalism, communication, quality workmanship, and long-term relationships.

What began as a one-person operation has grown into a multi-division organization supported by experienced field personnel, dedicated administrative staff, and a growing leadership team. The company has invested heavily in the people, systems, equipment, technology, and infrastructure necessary to deliver a high level of service while maintaining the personal relationships that helped build the business from the beginning.

Today, Edwards operates several specialized divisions, including:

• Lawn Fertilization & Weed Control
• Commercial Maintenance & Snow Management

Supporting these operations is a team that includes administrative, finance, human resources, sales, account management, production management, and field leadership professionals who work together to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Our organization includes dedicated resources for client communication, quality control, scheduling, project management, recruiting, employee development, and operational oversight, allowing us to successfully serve both residential and commercial clients throughout the region.

Whether it’s a routine maintenance visit, a landscape enhancement, a large-scale installation project, or a winter snow event requiring rapid response, Edwards has the people, equipment, systems, and experience to deliver dependable results.
